Mike Services

Direct Connect
Direct Connect's push to talk functionality is built into every Mike handset. Unlike push to talk functionality on mobile phones, Direct Connect works on a different network, iDEN, which makes it more powerful.

With Direct Connect, you can reach your Mike contacts and over 22 million subscribers across North America - at the simple push of a button. It works like a two-way radio, so it eliminates the delays and frustration of voice mail and phone tag.

Use Group Call to reach every member of your team simultaneously, with no need to call each team member separately. Group Call lets you communicate and coordinate with multiple team members all at once - nationwide, quickly and easily.
Push to View
25¢ per message
Using Push to View, you can send picture messages using Direct Connect, which means you can send a picture right in the middle of a push-to-talk conversation or at any time.

Both you and your recipient must have a Push to View capable Mike handset.
Talk Around
Mike Talk Around™ is an all-digital off-network walkie-talkie service that works between Mike handsets within a three km range.

It is the ideal back up in emergency situations, if you're in a remote location where network coverage might not be available.

Talk Around's digital point-to-point, local and non-network method of voice communication operates similar to traditional two-way radio, using public ISM-band spectrum (902-928 MHz).

Because you use it to communicate without connecting to a network, Talk Around is FREE. You and the people you talk to just need to have a Talk Around-capable handset.

Included Services

Call Display
included
Call Display shows the phone numbers of your incoming calls so you can choose whether to answer the call. When used with Call Waiting, you see incoming phone numbers even if you are on another call.

Using outbound Call Display, also called caller ID, you determine whether your number displays to the people you call. When you block your number, it displays as "Restricted."
Call Forwarding
included
Using  Call Forwarding, you can redirect all incoming calls to another phone number (local or within North America, but not International). You will still be able to make outgoing calls on your phone, but incoming calls will go to the number you set up.

Includes 3,000 minutes.
Call Waiting
included
When another call comes in, Call Waiting alerts you with two fast beeps. You either accept the second incoming call or let it to go straight to voice mail. Either way, you never miss a call.

Call Waiting works with Call Display, so you can see who is calling before deciding to interrupt your first call.

When you use Call Waiting and engage two callers, you incur separate airtime charges for both calls.
Conference Calling
included
Sometimes things are less confusing and more efficient when you can talk to two different people at the same time. With Conference Calling, you can add someone to your conversation, so three of you can all be on the same call.

Applicable air time is charged for each call that is in progress.
Detailed Billing
included
Detailed billing provides clients with a detailed review of all call activity, including a list of phone calls made, the date and time of the calls, and the number of airtime minutes used for each call. It's great for viewing and tracking your mobile phone usage every month.
Numeric Messaging
included
Numeric Messaging is a voice mail option that allows callers to leave a voice message or press 1 to leave a number where they can be reached. The call-back number is delivered to your Mike phone like a pager message.

Numeric Messaging is free if you subscribe to Voice Mail 10 or Voice Mail 25. Text messages using the call back number are free.
Voicemail 10

With Voice Mail, you will never miss a message again, and you can retrieve your messages using either your handset or any phone in the world.

With Voice Mail 10 you get standard voice mail features with the ability to save 10 messages.

When calling your voice mail on your phone, airtime charges apply. When using another phone to call your voicemail, charges do not apply.

Messaging

Text Messaging Packs

All options include unlimited incoming text, picture or video messages. Pay-per-use text messaging is available at 20¢ per message (sent or received).
  • Messaging 200: $5/month (up to 250 sent text/picture/video messages)
  • Messaging 2,000: $10/month (up to 2,500 sent text/picture/video messages)
  • Messaging Unlimited: $15/month (unlimited sent text/picture/video messages)
Premium messages are not included.
An additional 15¢ charge will apply for each text message or attachment sent outside of Canada and the U.S.
Video and picture messaging are only available in 1X 3G digital coverage areas. If you have a non-capable phone you'll receive a text message that includes a Web address where you can view the picture or video.
Picture & Video Messaging
50¢/message to Canada & US
With Picture & Video Messaging, you can send any of the pictures or videos you shoot with your phone to an email address, your TELUS online photo album, or to another mobile handset (within Canada, to the US and the Philippines). People without a picture/video phone will get a text message with a web address and PIN to view your message.

If you and your recipient both have Mike phones with Push to View, you should consider using that functionality instead.

A new generation of Instant Messenger makes it easy to chat with friends anytime. Log in directly without going through the web browser. See who's online, chat, send photos and stay connected wherever you are.

Pay-per-use is available at 10¢/message.

Packet Data Add-ons
Mike Packet Data service provides an 'always on' wireless solution to transmit remote data to enterprise application data stores or to quickly connect to the Internet.
  • Packet Data 25: $20/month for 5 MB (additional usage $5MB)
  • Packet Data 50: $45/month for 100 MB (additional usage $5/MB)
  • Packet Data 75: $70/month for 1 GB (additional usage $1/MB)
Billed Data is based on number of megabytes transmitted to or from the mobile device (the megabyte count includes protocol headers and user data).
No roaming or long distance charges on Packet Data in Canada.
Packet Data U.S. roaming is not available.
